The Fast Pace of Life |
I don't know why do I always fill my blog with my silly contemplation which never ends. I wanna write something but the time isn't enough for me to write the more debatable and inspiring topics. In the next post, I will try to write about the interesting topic with a small research inside. I know you are curious, hem.... But, the purpose of a blog for me doesn't only make someone inspired but I can tell what I had faced here with the hope many of my friends and family in Indonesia can know what I have got here. Leaving my home country is still a little bit nightmare for me because actually I prefer a humble life with the peace inside so I can be near with my family and I can feel another people's affection and of course their sadness or happiness. Ehmm....living in a small village, the peace society, helping each other, may be the right choice for those who have been bored with the crowdness of the town. The problem is can I live in that slowlier pace of life....ehm....it means "how can I survive in this modern era by living like that?" Let it be the my idea and I am sure I wil get that peace even though I live in this fast pace of society. But I still deserve that small vilage. Isn't that funny ? Recently, a can of Nescafe always accompanies me in the morning. How can I "survive" in the lecture without that coffee? I still remember my post about coffee where I wrote that I really hated coffee. Now, I deny my statement,err....sometimes I like coffee. Especially in the severe condition like this morning where I almost slept in Mr Lars lecture about waves. I still don't know whether coffee will be my constant companion in facing this fast pace of life. For those who seldoms have this kind of life, I can depict that as follow. Imagine, in the morning you are awaken by the alarm but 45 minutes later, the class will start. You are still very sleepy because you only slept for 3 hours because you prepared your laboratory report last night and studied. In the lecture, you almost sleep because your sleeping time is very short. Then you don't fully concentrate your mind. After that, you should have 5 hours laboratory at the noon with the tough experiment. Then, you will deal with your art club and arrived in your room nearly in the midnight. You haven't done your homework or anything. Huh....sometimes you will fell the days and weeks will walk so fast then finally you find the exam period is in front of you. Isn't it a nightmare ?
But, there is still always positive thing of this kind of life. Everything can be done so quickly and everything will have finished int the early time, including my long vacation period in the end of the semester which made me alone in the vacation because all my friends haven't got their vacation and they are still waiting theie exam. Let's enjoy whatever we face and try to face the day with the grateful heart. photo from Danti(jessica-drain-away.blogspot.com) |

When My Blogging Time Had Lost |
Many things happened and studying had stolen my blogging time here. Lab report, lectures, assignment made me crazy. I hope it can record what I had encountered. Hardly to say, Lee Wee Nam Library had been my second room. I usually do my sucks homework and take a nap there. Perhaps many of you don't know about "Asa Yueni", the song created by Shuntaro Tanikawa and Ko Matsushita. This isn't popular song but it touches many people's heart. I still remember when my friend, Sophie, from France really loved this song. We sang Asa Yueni in the farewell meeting when Sophie asked us to sing that song. Yes, you are correct, that is my choir song. It will be sang for the first time in Singapore(that song was composed for NTU choir) our first concert which will be held on March 9th in Victoria Concert Hall. Did you ever see Victoria Concert Hall at night ?
Asa Yueni was firstly sang in Xiamen 4th World Choir Games. This is my choir.
I am bored with Orchard road. There isn't any special thing from there. When I went there with my best friends, I met few beggars there in the middle of crowdness. It made me believes that this earth isn't safe. There will always be poorness in society.
This is the unique way, cutting the grass seed using a kind of apparatus which can create a loud sound. It made everyone ears disturbed. The lawn mowers also used special clothes. Sometimes, I am afraid of them. Many of them were Indians ( why are there no Chinese there ? Am I racist guy? ) This is always what I think. Many labours in the "same" kind of jobs are Indians. If there Perisma in US, in Singapore there is PPIS and in NTU, there is PINTU. PINTU means a door. This is an Indonesian Students Association in NTU Singapore. A friend of mine said to me that "A bird will always thicks with the same flur bird". I am sure PINTU isn't a form of narrow nationalism. We need someone when we are alone in a strange country like Singapore. THANKS PINTU. Some days ago, I joined Annual General Meeting of PINTU. The purpose of that meeting is selecting the PINTU chairman for 2007/2008. Finally Mr Ruwadi was elected. He had beaten Kenny and Tri Wira. Hem.... I lost my ten bucks, in January 20th, for the sake of the concert of Symphonic Band. It was so beautiful. Victoria concert Hall. I tried to close my eyes when the song was so calm. I tried to dance in my heart when the happy song was sung.
Today, I went to iGlobal, event organized in NTU to give information for the students about student exchange, Global Immersion Programme, and Summer Studies. Going there encouraged me to go abroad again. But, can I just dream ? I don't know what to do again. I am having a bad mood today. I am guilty. It seemed I couldn't control what I say to my friends. I am trying to be silent for a while and pray. I am sorry my friends.

Football Match : Indonesia vs Singapore (2-2) |
Some of you know about Tiger Cup which was held for the first time in Singapore in 1996. Since 2007, the name was changed into AFF cup or Asean Football Federation. It shows how good or poor about the quality of football in ASEAN countries. My roomate (Clement) went to Singapore National Stadium yesterday, January 17th, to watch that hot football match between Indonesia and Singapore. The result was draw, both teams could make two goals. Perhaps, many people were disappointed but Singapore wasn't. Singapore could go to the next round because Singapore defeated Laos(11-0) and Indonesia should go home because Indonesia was lack of points.
I really hate football so I refused Clement's invitation to join and to support that team. But, I regret after all after I knew that it wasn't an annual event ( and I should do my homework ), how stupid I was! I just regret because I lost the opportunity to meet many Indonesians there. I wanted to feel how I support my country's team when that team is competing in abroad. I regret when all my friends said that the match was cool. May I can go to watch it in the next time !

My Favourite Place |
"people need to be alone for a while to understand themselves"
When everything seems to be silly and you realise that you want to be alone for a while to enjoy the time, where is your best place to do it ? I prefer the place like what I show you above. After the boring lecture or some tough tutorials, I usually come to this humble place to make me calm for a while. Enjoying the light of the sun and let it shine to my skin after some hours lecture in a very cold place (Lecture Teather). The wind blows smoothly and it was added by the green chairs which make me fall in love because dark green is my favourite color. I can see the trees in front of me, so green, so alive. Yesterday, I went there and it was drizzling and I love drizzling. Can't you imagine how this situation is ?
Turning back by seeing in the opposite direction will not make me as peaceful as this. Do you know what kind of place it is? It is a canteen where people are talking loudly behind me. The strange thing is that I will feel so calm after I see in those trees. As if, I am trying to forget everything in my head. Forgetting another people's bad opinion about me is the special enjoyment that I can take. Learning about what we have got in this day can be done by beeing alone for a while. Just Try ! |

Complicated Experiment |
Yesterday, I got my first experiment in this semester. Oh My God, It was so difficult to do, not because of the concept or mathematics stuff, but I should deal with the new apparatus. I should use light sensor which was connected to computer to yield a beautiful graph. Firstly, William(my group mate) and I felt it was such a new apparatus and both of us never met that before. It was about interference and diffraction. Perhaps, some of you got this experiment at your senior high school. But, I can learn much from here, including about what I felt to become the last person in the laboratory because this experiment needed a lot of time. |

Secret |
I felt warmth, not only the warmth of your shoulder, your smile touched me a lot. I never felt this heartbeat before when our eyes try to steal each other. I could smell your fragrance in your clothes and your breath was so clear. There is a deepest meaning in my eyes but I can't see it in your eyes. You seem to be further and further. Hold my hand so I can always feel that warmth. ******************************************* posted in January 15, Because some people complained, I change it and they help me to revise that poem. Sensing your shoulder's warmth, your scent, gracing your smile I'm damn paralyzed Meeting your eyes got me hypnotized Someone like you, rushed my heartbeat, the me inside. With the deepest meaning in my eyes,I explored those devious eyes I couldn't find it,I'm stunned, killed by that coldness. You pulled away, further and further.
I can't reach you. |

Blogger Indonesia of The Week (66) |
I was rather surprised when a friend of mine - Devi Girsang - told me that I was the blogger of this week according to Mr. Fatih Syuhud in his blog. Honestly, I knew about Mr. Fatih's habit to "crown" the Indonesian blogger to be the Blogger Indonesia of the week from Devi Girsang also. I was so interested to be that prestigious blogger and it came true. Wow....it was so amazing when I firstly read Mr. Fatih's post. Let you know, I smiled all that day because I had just started my post in the last three months ago but interestingly many people said that my blog was cool. I felt this was strange. How can they say that?
Here I would say thanks to my influential friends,i.e. Chandra(my neighbour) who had asked me to write this blog and he encouraged me to do this, Danti and Mamas (my senior high school friend) who had taught me to write the blog, Clement(my roomate) who always read my blog, thanks to www.isnaini.com who had provided this beautiful template and I am so grateful to have this, last but not least Mr A. Fatih Syuhud who had "crowned" me as the blogger of this week(eventhough some people don't agree). I will try hard to always write to help all of my friends to get the meaning of this life and about how precious the time is, time to understand the meaning of this life. Keep on writing.... University Trend |
Perhaps, people would see I was crazy because I took a photograph like a stranger. That picture was taken in south spine, Nanyang Technological University, my campus. Now, there are various schools offered by a technological university. The example is above. There are International Studies( Before the name was Institute of Defence Strategies), Business School, and Humanities School. The advantage of this founding, one of all, is to improve the quality of that school especially if it will be reviewed in th university world ranking(that what my professor said), because the rank of a university will be higher if there are more various schools inside. That is the point which was graded in Times Higher Magazine. So, it isn's strange if there are many technological university build the various schools. The example is ITB(Indonesia) with its Business and Management School, NTU with its various school, and Curtin University of Technology (Australia) with its Business School.
The founding of that new school was quite succesful. Some of us know about these person. In the last Academic Year, the Rajaratnam Int'l Studies ( Before IDSS ) had got its graduates. Agus Yudhoyono, son of Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono; Loro Horta, son of the Timor Leste Prime Minister; and Hekmat Karzai, cousin of Afghan President Hamid Karzai; were Masters students at IDSS. Besides, many International Students also studied there.
I hope this will not absorb the quality of the best student in a country to enter the university. I am not the best student, so I enter the university abroad. It is funny, hahaha....

Self Studying in University |
I found it is so different between studying in university and studying in senior high school. In the first semester of my study in this university, I was so lazy and as if I neglected some modules. I still practised the senior high school style in studying. Finally, my result in the last semester wasn't good enough and I was so dissapointed. Because my GPA wasn't until 4.5, so my opportunity to be Dean's List Student and to join exchange student was lost also. Here, I had just found the concept of self studying. Here, I am studying and no one cares. I study for the sake of my future. Imagine, the stuying time here is only 13 weeks,it is such a short time, right ? About three months only and sometimes the students should read hundred pages of book and memorize it. In other words, the students should study everyday and I am trying to do this in this second semester. I hope, I will get the art of studying in this semester. |

7 Hours to Google Adsense |
Am I capitalist now? I put a google adsense in blog. I was so surprised when I got this adsense 7 hours since I applied it. From Mr. Fatih Syuhud, many people failed to do so. I am sure it is because I write in English so Google easily gives this right. Thank you Mr Syuhud for the information that you wrote about how to put a google adsense. I will use the money I get for charity, I think. I am not capitalist. Then, I was thinking how the people get money from the advertisment they put in their website. Does it make a big change for Google if many people put that? How does google get money? Isn't it interesting? |

Story with Coffee |
Even though it is very easy to get Starbucks here, I got my first Starbuck in December 12th 2006. Isn't it funny ? I didn't drink coffee but I orderred a hot chocolate. I am having a bad assumption with coffee since my teacher in my Junior High School said that there was caffeine inside. Isn't it so stupid that I still remember it? Starbuck which was established in Seattle in 1971 was quite prominent. It seems to be a cozy place to hang out eventhough it is a kind of "capitalist" place( that's how I call ). Let's go back to Indonesia. Indonesia is also the coffee producer. But, let you know that I had just seen the coffee plant in front of my eyes yesterday in Singapore zoo. The tree had the thin stem but it was rather tall. I didn't read the type of that coffee whether it is robusta or arabica. Most of Indonesian farmer plants robusta coffee which is flooding the international market now. It made the Indonesian's coffee was beaten by Vietnam, especially about the rate of production. Vietnam succesfully dragged Indonesia into the forth position from the third position as the coffee world producer , a bad news.
I am sure many Indonesian know about Warung Kopi. It is the comfort place to gather with friends but I never go to that place, usually that is for the old men. I am too shy to join. Indonesia also has many prominent coffee shops. They are Banaran Coffee, Kopi Luwak, and I don't know the others. Shall I love coffee ? Will I choose hot choco everytime I visit Starbucks.

Singapore Zoological Garden and Night Safari |
January 6th, I was outside NTU all day. My neighbour( Chandra ) and I went to Singapore Zoo and Night Safari in somewhere near Ang Mo Kio. I don't know where it exactly belongs to, Ang Mo Kio or Woodland. Firstly, I dropped in Ang Mo Kio MRT station then I used SBS bus number 138. It was so far from the station to the zoo. Finally, we arrived then we decided to pay 38 bucks for the ticket. It was included the trip in night safari. I realize that visiting the zoo isn't only for kids. The pleasure it gave made everyone interested to have a trip in that great zoo. I found many things were prepared as perfect as possible. The technology really touched that place, I could see many air cons room, television in the jungle, good amphiteatre, multimedia resource. It was also completed with many mysterious paths included many special rooms or area with special theme, there were Tiger Trek, Tropical Crops Plantation, Fragile Forest, and many more. It was the vibrant zoo because many unique animals were performanced in that zoo. It wasn't strange if there were many amphiteatres. The next trip was continued I was thinking quite longer to really imagine what actually happened with the face of Indonesian's tourism. I heard from www.liputan6.com that the international tourist's visit was dropped into 5.6% in 2006. I am sure many people chose Singapore as their destination. It was proved by many foreign tourists there. I just think whether it is about the wealth of Singapore so she can build everything in this unique country with the support of the people and its technology. I hope the Indonesian Tourism will be better in this new year. I am sure Indonesia has more, more, and more. |

Hill and Rain (Memory of 29th December) |
I was going to my friend's home in Gantiwarna(Klaten). My friend insisted to see the hill and saw the river. Having arrived there, I saw the fog was on the hill. As if they wanted to touch the hill. It was beautiful. I remembered with what I read in Dhonny Dirgantoro's novel -5 cm- who told also about the mountain. He was right when he tried to say that enjoying nature will increase our love to this country. |

Soto Ayam ( Chicken Coto ) |
I don't know how to translate "soto ayam", better I use the original name. I was so crazy with this kind of food until I tried many soto stalls in Klaten. In Klaten, it is easily to find soto. I remember when I was still in Junior High School and Senior High School, I often ate it on the break time. I had eaten it for six years. Of course I can't directly leave it after I went to Singapore ( I can't find it here ) There are three favourite soto stalls according to me. They are Soto Yatno(Jl.Veteran), Soto Ngali (Jalatunda), and Soto Abu (Belangwetan). Aren't the names funny? Most of the soto stalls use the name of the owner. The soto is so delicious, I will never forget the taste. I am not patient to eat it again next year. |

New Year---New Colour |
Happy New Year for all of you. SO glad because I always get a memorable new year with my friend and my family. My senior high school friends and I went to Alun-Alun Klaten to enjoy the spirit of new year there. It was amazing, the new situation that I got, eventhough it was far from the glamour of Singapore or the shining fireworks. I felt the warmth with my friends. |

About Me |
Name: -ian-
Home: Nanyang Crescent, Boon Lay, Singapore
About Me: When everything changes, I wanna still stay there calmly, and wait for the right time. I am surrounded by so called "radical" dreams. I don't know whether it is a form of idealism of a youth. But, be a doctor was my dream, but Physics came into me. ITB was my dream, but He gave NTU for me. Currently, I wanna be a high school teacher, researcher, journalist, writer, businessman, also want to study abroad again. It is unclear but it is fair. As far as I can, because I can jump higher as a true worshiper, as a true believer. Let me be a clay oh God, form me as You want.
